Metastasis of invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast to the uterine cervix is rare, with only one report of a case occurring more than 20 years after the primary surgery. A 69-year-old woman presented with abnormal uterine cervical cytology (atypical glandular cells without tumor diathesis) 30 years after undergoing breast cancer surgery. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a 38-mm cervical mass. Modified radical hysterectomy was performed. The resected specimen exhibited an immunohistochemical profile of GATA3(+)/mammaglobin(+)/PAX8(-), which definitively excluded primary cervical adenocarcinoma and confirmed the diagnosis of metastatic invasive ductal carcinoma. Crucially, although the primary tumor was hormone receptor-positive, cervical metastasis exhibited receptor conversion to HER2-positive status. This case underscores the importance of considering metastatic breast cancer in the differential diagnosis of cervical masses in breast cancer survivors regardless of the disease-free interval. This further highlights the necessity for receptor re-evaluation in metastatic lesions to guide appropriate targeted therapy.

ATI-2341 TFA promotes acquisition of epithelial-like immunophenotype in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and alleviates intrauterine adhesion in a rat model.

BACKGROUND: Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) is a common complication of endometrial injury. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) have been implicated in endometrial repair, but strategies to enhance their therapeutic efficacy remain to be optimized. The C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4)/C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 12 (CXCL12) axis plays a pivotal role in BMSC homing. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to test the hypothesis that ATI-…

Duo Nang Decoction enhances endometrial receptivity in PCOS rats by upregulating caveolin-1 expression.

BACKGROUND: Duo Nang Decoction (DND) is widely used for treating polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)-related infertility. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying its action remain unclear. In a previous study, downregulation of caveolin-1 (Cav-1) was shown to impair endometrial angiogenesis, a key determinant of endometrial receptivity. OBJECTIVES: This research study aimed to elucidate the influence and potential molecular mechanism…

MicroRNA-135 alleviates cisplatin resistance in cervical cancer by inhibiting CD44v6.

BACKGROUND: Cervical cancer (CC) remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide and cisplatin resistance poses a major challenge to effective treatment. MicroRNA-135 (miR-135) has been implicated in tumor progression and drug resistance, but its role in cisplatin-resistant CC remains unclear. OBJECTIVES: To investigate whether miR-135 affects cisplatin resistance in CC cells by targeting CD44v6. METHODS: Bioinformatic an…

Acceptability and preference of self-collected vaginal samples for human papillomavirus DNA testing compared with physician-collected Pap smear.

BACKGROUND: Self-collected vaginal sampling for human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA testing provides a promising alternative to physician-collected Pap smears, especially in low-resource settings. However, data on its acceptability and preferences among Filipino women remain limited. This study aimed to assess women's perceptions, experiences, willingness and preferences regarding self-collected vaginal sampling for HPV DNA testing compared…
