چکیده اصلی

CONTEXT: The Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program awards federal grants for up to 10 years to community coalitions aimed at reducing youth substance use across the United States. This report describes efforts for program sustainability, shares sustainability examples from DFC-funded coalitions, and describes public health impact of coalition continuity of funding and activities beyond the DFC funding period. PROGRAM: The overarching DFC program aims to mobilize community leaders to identify and respond to substance use challenges unique to their community, as well as local community environmental factors tied to substance use. IMPLEMENTATION: DFC coalitions follow a sustainability framework that addresses community engagement, funding, policy planning strategies, partnerships, and staff retention. Communities are encouraged to use the sustainability checklist and are required to submit a sustainability plan. DISCUSSION: Planning for sustainability helps coalitions and their members, partners, and the greater community at large to ensure that substance use prevention efforts are poised to continue the work after DFC funding ends. IMPLICATIONS FOR POLICY AND PRACTICE: Coalition sustainability is key to maintaining the reach of DFC coalitions as they move beyond the funding period and new communities join the DFC program.

Associations Between Pain Severity and Opioid Agonist Treatment Among People With Drug Injection Experience in Australia.

INTRODUCTION: Pain is highly prevalent among people with opioid use disorder (OUD), yet it is often undertreated. Whether opioid agonist treatment (OAT) improves pain outcomes is unknown among this target population. This research aimed to explore associations between pain severity and current OAT status in a longitudinal cohort of people who inject drugs. METHODS: Data were drawn from the Melbourne Injecting Drug User Cohort Study (Su…

Metadoxine has shown potential but lacks sufficient real-world evidence, particularly in Chinese populations. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of metadoxine in patients with acute alcohol intoxication. METHODS: This single-center retrospective cohort study included 124 patients with AAI admitted to an emergency departme…

Environmental Context and Reporting Completeness of Event-Based Ecological Momentary Assessment in Cigarette and Cannabis Use.

INTRODUCTION: Ecological momentary assessment (EMA) allows researchers to capture substance use as it occurs in daily life, but participants may not report every use event. Little is known about whether the environments where people spend time affect the completeness of these reports. METHODS: We examined how consistently young adults reported cigarette and cannabis use through event-based EMA and whether reporting differed by the soci…

The Impact of Heterogeneity in Individual Characteristics and Motivation to Quit Heroin Use on Contingency Management and Opioid Agonist Treatment Response: A Latent Class Analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Contingency Management (CM) involves the systematic application of positive reinforcement (financial incentives) to promote behaviour change, to improve treatment outcomes for individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD). To better understand patient heterogeneity, this study sought to identify meaningful subgroups/classes underlying the population based on characteristic groupings, followed by determining whether CM effect…
