چکیده اصلی

BACKGROUND: Oral diseases affect over 3.5 billion people globally, with dental caries and periodontitis being the most common. Previous studies suggest that dairy products may protect against these conditions through enamel remineralization and antimicrobial effects, but a comprehensive synthesis integrating component profiles, molecular mechanisms, and translational applications has been lacking. This systematic review synthesizes evidence on dairy products and their bioactive components in oral health, clarifies functional mechanisms, current applications, and future directions. METHODS: PubMed, Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were searched from database inception to April 2026. Studies linking dairy products to oral health were included. A narrative synthesis covered dairy product categories, bioactive components (proteins and peptides, minerals, probiotics), mechanisms (microecological regulation, caries prevention, periodontal management, antifungal effects, mucosal protection), current applications, and future challenges. RESULTS: Processing characteristics and compositional differences of liquid milk, fermented dairy products, and cheese determine their distinct roles in oral care. Dairy-derived proteins, minerals, and probiotics act synergistically through multiple mechanisms: maintenance of oral microbial homeostasis; enamel remineralization, inhibition of cariogenic bacterial adhesion and acid production (caries prevention); attenuation of inflammatory responses (periodontal support); inhibition of Candida albicans (opportunistic infection control); and protection of mucosal barrier integrity. A three-tiered application model-natural dietary intervention, oral care product development, and clinical adjunctive therapy-has emerged. This review adds an integrated "components-mechanisms-effects" framework demonstrating how casein phosphopeptides, lactoferrin, probiotics, calcium, and phosphorus synergistically maintain oral microbiota homeostasis, promote remineralization, reduce inflammation, inhibit opportunistic infections, and protect the mucosal barrier. CONCLUSION: Dairy products can preserve oral health via multiple pathways and have clear public health value. Future research should focus on probiotic strain specificity, synergistic mechanisms of active ingredients, and long-term clinical effects to promote an integrated "nutrition + oral care" health management strategy. This review provides a theoretical reference for precise application, product innovation, and interdisciplinary integration of dairy products in oral health, with positive implications for improving global oral health status.

Development and implementation of "Mazboot Bunyad": a digital health intervention for the screening and management of undernutrition among children aged 6-59 months, at private provider clinics in urban slums of Karachi, Pakistan.

BACKGROUND: Undernutrition remains a leading driver of child mortality and morbidity in low- and middle-income countries, yet surveillance and case management in Pakistan still rely largely on infrequent surveys and paper-based registers that cannot track nutritional status in real time. The private sector, where most Pakistani households seek care, has been largely excluded from nutrition programming. We describe the development and e…

Muscle Dysmorphia and the Use of Nutritional Ergogenic Supplements Among Amateur Male Bodybuilders: A Cross-Sectional Study.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to evaluate the levels of muscle appearance satisfaction and ergogenic aid use among adult male amateur bodybuilders. METHODS: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, a questionnaire containing demographic information, the "Nutrition Ergogenic Supplement Attitude Measurement (NESAM)" for ergogenic aid use, and the "Muscle Appearance Satisfaction Scale (MASS)", and anthropometric measurements were taken u…

Perceptions of AI-generated informational texts and effects of the source: An online experiment.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly common for health information seeking, yet many people are still skeptical of its performance. This between-subjects online experiment tested whether informing readers that a text was produced by AI influenced their ratings in 774 participants. They were randomly assigned to read one of six brief texts and rated trustworthiness, interest, and perceived understanding, as well as inte…

Integrating HPLC-determined vitamins A, E and B-complex (B1, B2, B3, B6, B9) with population intake estimates: insights from Cuba's inaugural Total Diet Study.

Purpose To quantify seven dietary vitamins and estimate their mean daily intakes and major food sources among Cuban adults through the country's first Total Diet Study. Methods Standardized 24-hour dietary recalls were collected from 450 adults across Western, Central, and Eastern Cuba between October 2020 and March 2021. Foods were classified into 16 groups, prepared as consumed, homogenized, and analyzed using validated high-performan…
