OBJECTIVE: To explore how professional women undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) experience and manage conflicts between treatment demands and professional identity; and to identify ways healthcare professionals can support them. METHODS: Following COREQ guidelines, semi-structured, in-depth interviews were conducted with 18 professional women undergoing ART in a tertiary care hospital. Reflexive Thematic Analysis bolstered by interdisciplinary investigator triangulation (clinical and basic science) ensured thematic confirmability. RESULTS: Analysis revealed Gendered Occupational Asymmetry (female occupational burden regardless of clinical aetiology), the Insider Paradox (the role reversal for healthcare professionals) and the Workplace Panopticon (constant self-surveillance to preserve professional authority). Interestingly, work simultaneously often acted as a Sanctuary of Competence, providing psychological respite. Finally, narratives exposed an Existential Rumination (mourning past personal-professional decisions) and permanent temporal career stalling. These themes were further mapped onto a 'A Day in the Life' structural framework to illustrate compounding daily burdens. CONCLUSIONS: Current clinical lifestyle directives inadequately account for the rigid psycho-socioeconomic structures governing professional women. Based on identified themes, we propose targeted measures for healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centric care by integrating occupational awareness and identity-sensitive counselling into routine ART practice, thereby potentially reducing distress and improving treatment experience.

AA and Male Fertility.

AA is known to play a significant role in male fertility. AA metabolites, prostaglandins (PGs), were first discovered in the seminal fluid. It was assumed at the time of its discovery that PGs were formed by the prostate and hence were named as prostaglandins. PGs are crucial for sperm function. Lower PGE2 in the semen was found in those who are infertile. NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen) are known to aff…

Epigenetic role of miR-574 in sperm chromatin remodeling and developmental gene networks in male infertility.

CONTEXT: The epigenetic factors underlying varicocele and idiopathic infertility are still poorly understood, despite established pathophysiological mechanisms. AIMS: This study assessed sperm miR-574 expression in infertile males with or without varicocele and fertile controls, evaluating its relationship with semen parameters and chromatin condensation. METHODS: Thirty-eight participants were included, comprising idiopathic infertile…

NR4A1-Driven Granulosa Cell Ferroptosis Contributes to Obesity-Related Ovarian Dysfunction and Metformin-Mediated Ovarian Protection.

Obesity triggers ovarian dysfunction and female infertility accompanied by granulosa cell damage. Ferroptosis, iron-dependent lipid peroxidation-mediated cell death, participates in multiple reproductive diseases, yet the molecular cascade linking metabolic obesity to granulosa ferroptosis remains undefined. Using high-fat diet obese mice, primary human granulosa cells from obese infertile patients, and KGN cell lines, we identified th…

Possible role of bacterial infection in embryo implantation failure.

Embryo implantation is a critical and complex process that requires coordination between the embryo and the receptive endometrium for its success. However, a multitude of factors have the potential to contribute to implantation failure. Among these factors, bacterial infections in the uterine environment are of particular concern and are increasingly being considered as a contributing factor to implantation failure. The presence of pat…
