چکیده اصلی

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention based on the behavior change wheel (BCW) in improving health promotion behaviors, self-efficacy, and pregnancy rates among women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) experiencing infertility. METHODS: This randomized controlled trial included 66 PCOS patients with infertility recruited from the gynecology outpatient department of a tertiary hospital in Hangzhou, China. Participants were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n = 33), which received a 12-week health promotion behavior intervention based on the BCW, or the control group (n = 33), which received usual care. Outcomes were measured at baseline and immediately after the intervention. RESULTS: A total of 62 participants were included in the full analysis set, and 56 in the per-protocol set. Health promotion behaviors improved significantly from pre-intervention to post-intervention in both groups (p < 0.05). At post-intervention, the experimental group showed significantly greater improvement compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Self-efficacy was also significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group at post-intervention (p < 0.05). However, the difference in pregnancy rate between the two groups was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: The BCW-based intervention program showed promise in improving health promotion behaviors and self-efficacy among PCOS patients with infertility over 12 weeks, although its effect on pregnancy rate was not statistically significant. Longer-term studies are warranted to evaluate sustained benefits and reproductive outcomes. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: https://www.chictr.org.cn, identifier (ChiCTR2500103129).

AA and Male Fertility.

AA is known to play a significant role in male fertility. AA metabolites, prostaglandins (PGs), were first discovered in the seminal fluid. It was assumed at the time of its discovery that PGs were formed by the prostate and hence were named as prostaglandins. PGs are crucial for sperm function. Lower PGE2 in the semen was found in those who are infertile. NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen) are known to aff…

Epigenetic role of miR-574 in sperm chromatin remodeling and developmental gene networks in male infertility.

CONTEXT: The epigenetic factors underlying varicocele and idiopathic infertility are still poorly understood, despite established pathophysiological mechanisms. AIMS: This study assessed sperm miR-574 expression in infertile males with or without varicocele and fertile controls, evaluating its relationship with semen parameters and chromatin condensation. METHODS: Thirty-eight participants were included, comprising idiopathic infertile…

NR4A1-Driven Granulosa Cell Ferroptosis Contributes to Obesity-Related Ovarian Dysfunction and Metformin-Mediated Ovarian Protection.

Obesity triggers ovarian dysfunction and female infertility accompanied by granulosa cell damage. Ferroptosis, iron-dependent lipid peroxidation-mediated cell death, participates in multiple reproductive diseases, yet the molecular cascade linking metabolic obesity to granulosa ferroptosis remains undefined. Using high-fat diet obese mice, primary human granulosa cells from obese infertile patients, and KGN cell lines, we identified th…

Possible role of bacterial infection in embryo implantation failure.

Embryo implantation is a critical and complex process that requires coordination between the embryo and the receptive endometrium for its success. However, a multitude of factors have the potential to contribute to implantation failure. Among these factors, bacterial infections in the uterine environment are of particular concern and are increasingly being considered as a contributing factor to implantation failure. The presence of pat…
