چکیده اصلی

AIM: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of an aesthetics-based educational intervention on compassion competence and aesthetic nursing care among psychiatric nurses. DESIGN: A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest study with a control group. METHODS: The study was conducted at a psychiatric hospital in Kerman, Iran. A total of 90 eligible psychiatric nurses were randomly assigned to either an intervention group (n = 45) or a control group (n = 45). The intervention group participated in four weekly 90-min aesthetics-based nursing care educational sessions over four consecutive weeks, whereas the control group continued routine practice without receiving the educational intervention. Data were collected at baseline and 1 month after completion of the educational program using the Aesthetics of Nursing Care Scale (ENCS) and the Compassion Competence Scale (CCS). Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULTS: Following the intervention, the mean total aesthetic nursing care score increased significantly in the intervention group compared with baseline and the control group (81.02 ± 6.26 vs. 43.26 ± 2.18, p < 0.001). In contrast, no significant change was observed in the control group (p = 0.11). Similarly, the mean total compassion competence score increased significantly in the intervention group after the intervention (60.73 ± 16.17) compared with baseline and the control group (p < 0.001), while no significant change was found in the control group (p = 0.12). NO PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: No patient or public contribution was involved in this study.

Caring Behaviours in Nursing: A Bibliometric Analysis of Global Research Trends and Knowledge Structure.

BACKGROUND: Caring behaviours constitute one of the most visible ways in which "caring" is translated into everyday nursing practice, yet the field has become increasingly heterogeneous across settings, outcomes, and conceptual traditions. A field-level map is therefore needed to clarify how the literature has evolved and where it is currently concentrating. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to bibliometrically map the literature on caring b…

Machine Learning in Causal Effect Estimation and Causal Evaluation of ML-Enabled Interventions in Nursing-Related Research: A Scoping Review.

Machine learning (ML) informs nursing practice, but prediction cannot establish intervention or workflow effects. Aim To map ML use within causal effect estimation and causal evaluations of ML-enabled interventions in nursing and midwifery. Eight electronic sources were searched for reports published January 2015-June 2026, followed by backward citation searching. Eligibility required a causal estimand, corresponding identification str…

Effects of Aromatherapy on Stress and Anxiety Among Intensive Care Unit Nurses: A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: Nurses working in intensive care units (ICU) are at high risk for stress and anxiety. Aromatherapy stands out as a non-pharmacological and easily implementable complementary approach for alleviating these symptoms. To our knowledge, this is the first systematic review specifically examining the effects of aromatherapy on stress and anxiety among ICU nurses. AIMS: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effects of aroma…

Ethical Concerns and Implementation Barriers to Early Mobilisation in Critically Ill Adult and Older Adult Patients: Perspectives of ICU Nurses.

BACKGROUND: Early mobilisation is central to contemporary critical care, yet implementation remains inconsistent and ethically complex, particularly when patient safety, autonomy and resource constraints must be balanced. AIMS: To examine ICU nurses' perceptions of ethical concerns and implementation barriers related to early mobilisation in critically ill adults, including older adults, and their associations with professional charact…
