Seasonal influenza vaccination is widely implemented and generally safe; however, rare immunological adverse events have been reported. We describe a case of multifocal mucocutaneous Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) infection temporally associated with seasonal influenza vaccination in a 28-year-old man without a known immunocompromising condition. Seven days after vaccination, he developed oral ulcerative lesions and multiple vesicular eruptions involving the anterior chest wall, pubic region, and penile shaft. A multiplex polymerase chain reaction assay performed on specimens obtained from clinically apparent lesions detected HSV-1 DNA, whereas HSV-2 and other sexually transmitted pathogens included in the assay were not detected. Intravenous acyclovir was administered, resulting in complete clinical resolution. Although causality cannot be established, the close temporal relationship between influenza vaccination and the onset of HSV-1 infection is noteworthy, while alternative explanations cannot be excluded. This case highlights the importance of considering HSV infection in the differential diagnosis of multifocal mucocutaneous lesions occurring after influenza vaccination without implying a causal relationship.

Machine learning prognostic model and drug survival analysis for lung adenocarcinoma in the context of radiotherapy.

BACKGROUND: Patients with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) receiving radiotherapy represent an important but underexplored clinical subgroup. These patients often undergo concomitant pharmacologic treatments, yet the prognostic impact and underlying determinants of such combined regimens remain poorly understood. OBJECTIVE: This retrospective observational study aimed to develop and validate a radiotherapy-specific machine learning prognosti…

Madecassic acid attenuates sepsis-associated acute lung injury by regulating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway to mediate anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-apoptotic effects.

BACKGROUND: Sepsis-induced acute lung injury (ALI) is a critical illness with a high mortality rate. Madecassic acid (MA), a pentacyclic triterpenoid extracted from Centella asiatica, exhibits multiple biological activities, but its role in sepsis-associated ALI remains poorly elucidated. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect of MA on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI in mice and to elucidate its…

The Impact of Infectious Disease Severity on Stigma Associated With Affected Regions: A Facial Representation Perspective.

Individuals from regions affected by infectious disease outbreaks may be stigmatized because others hold negative mental images-or mental representations-of them. This study investigated whether such outbreaks lead to the formation of negative mental representations of residents in affected areas and explored the role of disease severity in this process. Study 1 revealed that during the early stages of the COVID-19 epidemic, the public…
