چکیده اصلی

BACKGROUND: Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) is a developmental condition affecting permanent first molars and often incisors, presenting with varied clinical severity ranging from mild opacities to severe post-eruption breakdown (PEB) with caries susceptibility. CLINICAL CONSIDERATION: This case study describes the management of three pediatric patients (aged 9.5-11 years) diagnosed with MIH, exhibiting diverse clinical presentations including discoloration, PEB, and hypersensitivity. Each subject presented with one or more severely affected molars requiring comprehensive treatment. Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF), along with Stainless steel (SS) crowns, was selected as the definitive restorative solution due to their durability, full-coverage protection, and cost-effectiveness. All procedures were performed under local anesthesia as required. Follow-up assessments were conducted periodically over 24 months to evaluate crown retention, gingival health, symptom relief, and patient satisfaction. The findings revealed favorable clinical results, with all SSCs remaining fully functional and intact throughout the observation period. No postoperative complications or recurrence of symptoms were observed, and both patients and caregivers reported high satisfaction. CONCLUSION: This case study highlights the effectiveness of combined SS crowns with SDF as a pragmatic restorative option for severely affected MIH molars, ensuring long-term functional and symptomatic relief while preserving oral health in pediatric patients.

The effect of different CAD/CAM materials and thickness on the immediate load-bearing capacity of occlusal veneers.

OBJECTIVES: Minimally invasive occlusal veneers fabricated from ceramic and resin-based materials have gained increasing popularity in recent years. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different CAD/CAM materials and restoration thicknesses on the immediate load-bearing capacity of occlusal veneers. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 100 human mandibular molars were prepared for occlusal veneers with a 1-mm circumferenti…

Clinical and radiographic evaluation of immediate versus delayed loading of dental implants at anterior maxilla: a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Immediate loading significantly improves oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) as well as satisfaction of patients. Future trials will determine the role of immediate loading protocol in clinical scenarios with various amounts of available jaw bone using different numbers of implants to retain a fixed prosthetic restoration in partially edentulous maxilla. The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare the clinical…

EFCD Expert Non-Consensus on Material and Technique Use for Direct Class II Composites With Guidance on Restoring Complex Cavities.

PURPOSE: There is confusion over the indications, techniques, and material choices for placing direct class II composite restorations among general dentists. This paper synthesizes new data on the general frequency of use of materials and techniques by experts, with a previous related paper that explored if and how experts restored specific class II cavities with varying complexities. It aimed to see if consensus on technique and mater…
